You must be able to trust the strength of your hands to hold your weight if you slip when using the cables. This is for experienced hikers. You will need gloves for the cables. Poles are recommended. This hike requires an entrance fee ($7/car) or State Park Pass. Bring plenty of water and food for a snack and lunch.

Directions:

From Coolidge, take AZ 87 South to I-10. Take I-10 East to exit 219. Turn right on Picacho Peak Rd. Enter Park entrance and pay at Rangers booth. Drive to Barrett Loop Road, turn left (restrooms will then be on your right). Continue to small Hunter Trail trailhead parking area. It is about 40 miles, one way.
