Special Instructions:
This is a one-way hike on the Arizona Trail through a scenic canyon. We will need SUVs or trucks to reach the north trailhead and regular cars at the south end. Bring water and a snack.
Directions:
Take Felix Rd north to Arizona Farms Rd. Turn right. Turn left on AZ 79. Turn right on Hwy 60 East toward Globe. Drive 10 miles until you see mile marker 222, then drive 0.7 miles past mile marker 222, and turn left (cross westbound Hwy 60) onto East Arboretum Rd/FS Rd 357.
To the South Trailhead: Turn left at the first intersection and go 0.3 miles to the intersection with E Hewett Station Rd. (unmarked) Turn right and go another 0.2 miles to the trailhead parking on the right. Unpaved miles is 0.5. Road conditions good. GPS coordinates: 33.28281, -111.17658.
To the North Trailhead: Turn right at the first intersection onto FS 8. At 1.3 miles, take the left fork onto FS 650. Follow FS 650 for 2.7 miles to the trail. Park just beyond trail and yellow pedestrian sign. Unpaved miles is 4. Road conditions poor. High clearance vehicle required. GPS coordinates: 33.33164, -111.13834.
