Special Instructions:

This is a key exchange hike following the old Hwy 60 road bed. Part of the road has been lost so we will be bushwacking on a wildcat trail to connect both ends of the Hwy. Hiking poles are recommended. Sturdy gloves required as you will be using cattle fencing to guide you down and up a ravine. Bring plenty of water and food for a snack and lunch.

Directions:

For the people starting at the top (west end):

Take Felix Rd north to Arizona Farms Rd, turn right (east) and follow to Hwy 79. Turn left (north) on 79 and follow to Hwy 60. Turn right onto 60 East toward Globe/Superior. Drive approximately 24 miles on 60 East to Top of the World. Just past mile post 236, Hwy 60 curves to the left, with a large gravel parking lot on the right. Pull into lot. The hike begins after crossing the cattle guard.

For the people starting at the bottom (east end):

Take Felix Rd north, turn right (east) on Arizona Farms Road. Turn left (north) on AZ 79. Take the right ramp onto Hwy 60 east toward Globe. Follow Hwy 60 past Top of the World to Pinto Valley Rd. Turn right on to Pinto Valley Road, then immediately pull unto the shoulder on the left and park. Walk up the gravel road to the 4th power pole (marked with a ribbon). Trail starts there.
