Special Instructions:
This is an out-and-back hike on a forest service road and a forest service trail. The trail follows a creek through a wooded canyon. There are shallow water crossings. Good for fall colors. Bring plenty of water and food for a snack and lunch.
Directions:
Take Felix Rd north, turn right (east) on Arizona Farms Road. Turn left (north) on AZ 79. Take the right ramp onto Hwy 60 east toward Globe. Follow Hwy 60 past Superior to Milepost 239. Turn left (north) 0.5 miles past mile post on Pinto Valley Rd. This is FS 287. Follow FS 287 for 3 miles and turn left on FS 287 (becomes dirt road). Stay right on 287 at the large arrow. At 4.8 miles go straight on 287, there is a sign ‘curved mountain road’. Turn left just before the bridge. Parking area is along the road before the gate. The trail starts inside the gate.
