This is a one-way hike through Arnett Canyon with great views of the canyon and Picketpost Mountain. Bring water and a snack.
Directions:
Take Felix Rd north to Arizona Farms Rd., turn right. Turn left (north) on AZ 79. Take the right ramp onto Hwy 60 east toward Globe.
To Picketpost Trailhead: Just past mile marker 221 turn right (south) on FR 231. There is a brown sign for Picketpost Trailhead. Follow the dirt road for approx 0.3 miles to T in road and turn left. Follow this road for 0.7 miles to the trailhead. Road conditions are good. GPS coordinates: 33.272654, -111.177004.
To Arnett Creek Trailhead: Follow US 60 East to Panther Dr. (GPS may say S. Mary Dr.) Turn right and follow past the fire station. Turn right on Golf Course Rd (GPS may say Telegraph Rd). Go 1.2 miles to the end of pavement. Continue on dirt road and turn right on Forest Service Rd 4. Take the right hand fork and proceed a few hundred yards to park vehicles along the road near the berm. There is no formal trailhead. Road conditions fair, high clearance vehicle suggested.
