Ballantine to Boulder Flat (A)

  Special Instructions: This is a fairly easy out and back hike with some elevation gain on maintained trails. There are lots of rocks for exploration and photos. There are great views from many vantage points along the way to Boulder Flat. The turnaround point is a valley filled with boulders. Directions: Take the Beeline Highway to Ballantine Trailhead. The Beeline Highway can be reached from the Bush Highway off of Power Road.

Barks to Weavers Needle (A)

  Special Instructions: A nice loop hike with interesting rock formations and close-up views of Weavers Needle. Directions: 8.1 miles west of the junction AZ-79/US-60, turn right on to FS77, which is Peralta Road. Follow FS77 5.6 miles to a left and up turnoff. Continue 1.9 miles to Peralta Trailhead.

Barnheart (A)

  Special Instructions: This hike will be done on our way for an overnight in Payson. Nice waterfall. Directions: Bush Highway (AZ 87) to Barnheart Rd. Turn left on Barnheart Rd.

Black Cross Butte (A)

  Special Instructions: This hike contains quite a bit of off trail hiking, and although most areas are open, there are some places where scratchy plants would be a problem for hikers not wearing long pants. Gloves could be handy in these places. This hike is a variation of the Hike Arizona description above. Directions: North on Hunt Hwy 8.4 miles. Turn right on E Bella Vista Rd. Turn left on N Gantzel Rd and continue onto Ironwood Rd for 9 miles. Turn right on W Baseline Ave. Turn left on S Idaho Rd for 2.8 miles. Slight right on AZ 88 E/N Apache Trail for about 20 miles. Turn left on Forest Service Rd 80 to Horse Mesa Dam.

Black Mesa to Dutchman Trail (A)

  Special Instructions: None Directions: Felix Rd north, right on Arizona Farms Rd. Left on AZ 79 and left on Hwy 60 West, toward Phoenix. Turn right on Mountain View Road just past Silly Mountain. Continue 4.5 miles to Apache Trail (SR 88) and turn right. Go approx. 2 miles to First Water Trailhead rd. (just past Lost Dutchman State Park). Right on First Water Trailhead Rd until the end of the road. 

Black Top Mesa (A)

  Special Instructions: Following the Dutchman Trail to Bull Pass Junction and ascend 467 feet to Bull Pass Saddle. Follow a faint trail for 0.6 miles ascending 571 feet to the top of Black Top Mesa for some fabulous views of the Superstition Mountains. Bring plenty of water and lunch Directions: Felix Rd north, right on Arizona Farms Rd. Left on AZ 79 and left on Hwy 60 West, toward Phoenix. Turn right on Mountain View Road just past Silly Mountain. Continue 4.5 miles to Apache Trail (SR 88) and turn right. Go approx. 2 miles to First Water Trailhead rd. (just past Lost Dutchman State Park). Right on First Water Trailhead Rd until the end of the road. 

Blackett’s Ridge – (A)

  Special Instructions: This hike is in beautiful Sabino Canyon in the Catalina Mountains. Although Hike Arizona rated this trail as 3.5, it is much easier than many Advanced trails, with the main difficulty being the steady uphill 20% grade. Bring plenty of water and lunch. This hike requires a $8 parking fee or a National Park/Senior Pass. Directions: Drive south on Hunt Hwy, turn right on Attaway. Follow 287 south to I-10 East toward Tucson. Near Tucson, take exit 248, W Ina Rd and turn left. Drive 7 miles east on W Ina Rd, keeping right onto Skyline Dr. In about 2 miles, keep right onto E Sunrise Blvd. Travel about 6.5 miles to N Sabino Canyon Rd an turn left. Drive 0.5 mile on N Sabino Canyon Rd to entry of parking lot on right.

Blue Ridge to Silver Ridge (A)

  Special Instructions: This is a nice and easy hike in the Goldfield area.. Directions: Take Felix Rd north to Arizona Farms Rd, turn right. Turn left (north) on AZ 79. Turn left onto Hwy 60 West toward Phoenix. From Hwy 60, turn north on Idaho Rd (not on AZ 88). Turn right on McKellips Rd. Turn left on Wolverine Pass.  Turn right on East Tonto. Turn left on Cactus Rd, then turn right on McDowell to trailhead.
