Special Instructions:

This is an out and back trail that follows the Arizona Trail approximately 3.7 miles to Barnett Camp.

Start from the AZT trail head and will follow the ridge lines of the range for most of the hike. You will have spectacular views of Apache Leap, Weavers Needle and Picketpost. When you reach the ATV trail near the end of your hike, turn left and continue .05 miles and explore Barnett Camp, the ruins of a stone building set into rock walls.

Nearby is a large wash which is an ideal spot for a snack before you follow the route back to the trailhead.

Directions:

Take Felix Rd north to Arizona Farms Rd and turn right. Turn left (north) onto AZ 79. Take the right ramp onto Hwy 60 east towards Globe. Drive 10 miles until you see mile marker 222, then drive 0.7 miles past mile marker 222, and turn left (cross westbound Hwy 60) onto East Arboretum Rd/FS Rd 357. Turn left at the first intersection and go 0.3 miles to the intersection with E Hewett Station Rd. (unmarked) Turn right and go another 0.2 miles to the trailhead parking on the right.
