Special Instructions:

The Lava Flow Trail is a 1-mile interpretive loop that accesses the Bonito Lava Flow in Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. 0.3 miles of the loop is paved for wheelchair access. There are plaques featuring pictures, diagrams, and descriptions located throughout the paved section.  There are some uneven, rugged surfaces so bring your hiking sticks, cameras and water.  The Visitor Center is still closed due to an earlier fire so there may not be services available.  Bring your National Park Pass. Bring plenty of water and a snack.

Directions:

We will meet at the Hampton/Fairfield Inn’s East parking lot at 990 & 1000 Country Club Drive (coordinates above) at 1:00 pm.  The hike leaders will provide directions to the trailhead.
